Summary

Description
English: Bransty-Corkickle railway tunnel A fine piece of engineering - a tunnel about one kilometre long running under the town. As a matter of further interest: running over the top of the tunnel [behind the parapet in the picture] is the line followed by one of the earliest railways ever built - the "waggon way" carrying iron-clad wooden rails which allowed horse-drawn transport of coal from William Pit to the harbour.
