Summary
DescriptionGrand Union Canal at Shrewley, Warwickshire - geograph.org.uk - 1711110.jpg
English: Grand Union Canal at Shrewley, Warwickshire This is the view of the canal from just within the north-west portal of the tunnel. Shrewley Tunnel is wide enough for seven foot beam narrowboats to pass by each other in the tunnel, which is 433 yards in length (396 metres). The horses would have been brought down the slope on the left, having come through their own "horse-tunnel" above. The canal opened in 1799.
