Summary

Description
English: Shrewley Tunnel, Grand Union Canal, Warwickshire. This is the south-east portal. The tunnel is 433 yards (396 metres) in length, and was opened in 1799 when the Warwick and Birmingham Canal was completed. Two seven foot beam boats can pass each other in the tunnel. There is no towpath, so the horses were taken through the hill in their own tunnel a bit higher up. 1172572
